JOIN THE KNIGHTS OF PETER CLAVER

The Knights of Peter Claver, Inc. is the nation’s only African-American Catholic fraternal organization and the world’s largest historically black catholic lay organization.  We were founded on November 7, 1909 in Mobile, Alabama and now based in New Orleans.  The Order is named after St. Peter Claver, a Jesuit priest from Spain who ministered to African slaves in Cartagena, Colombia during the 1600s.

The Order engages in several national service projects and is a major supporter of the United Negro College Fund.  In 2006 we completed our nationally acclaimed Environmental Health and Justice Literacy Project to educate citizens of underserved communities on environmental health hazards.  We are currently developing a national project to combat childhood obesity. Over the past five years, our noble Order of Knights, Ladies and youth has contributed over $1,000,000 to charitable causes and scholarships.
